Saturday & Sunday

Saturday we went out to discover the city for the 4th time. We've seen things we didn't notice before and we walked A LOT. Later that day we had a "horror movies marathon". Sunday was rainy and stormy. We couldn't do that much but we still wanted to visit the Silk Museum to get a better understanding of the Valencian fashion. So that's what we did. The guide explained to us the history of silk production and later we were able to take a look to some handmade items in the workshop. After that we went shopping and I managed to find a t-shirt that really represents me! (Pictures below)

Last day at work before a long weekend!

Friday was a very productive day for me and Aron! We finally started to work at the school's website. After we got all the instructions we started building it from scratch. It took about 2 hours of struggling before we got something to even look like a website. But at the end of the day our mentors couldn't believe what we were able to do in just under 4 hours. It's not much, but we're definitley going to finish it before the deadline!

First 3 days

Day 1: Today was our first day in IES Rodrigo Botet. We met our mentors and then we went to the classes. We didnt't have too much to do because the time was short. We've met some pupils and everyone seemed happy to talk to us. Later that day we went to a very nice pizzeria downtown and ate on our teachers cost. Day 2: We arrived at about 9:30 at IES Rodrigo Botet, full of energy and ready to work. We realised pretty soon we were not going to work but attend classes for about 4 hours. We've seen some PHP basics like FIELDS and SUBMIT buttons. Day 3: Today we have actually worked! We had to assemble some pc's and reinstall some OS'es. Later that day we had to remove fields out of the library's database .

Our first contact with Valencia

Yesterday was our first ''real'' day in Valencia. We've done a tour of some historical buildings like Torres De Serranos and the Palace of  the Borgias with a very charismatic guide who told us a lot of things we didn't know. We've learned a lot yesterday! Here is a picture of us from during the tour.

And here we are...

Yesterday was our first day in Valencia. We had to drive for about 25 minutes to get to the appartment where we got the usual tour and a list of DO's and DON'Ts (mostly don'ts, to be honest 😉). We then went shopping and didn't even had to pay for our food, which is pretty nice if you ask me. We made some tortillas when we got home and then went exploring the city. Yesterday was a good day... (Excuse my plating)

A short history of Valencia

The city of Valencia was founded in the year 138 B.C. By the Romans. They started by building the Forum in the Plaza de la Almoina . In 714 the Visigoths arrived in Valencia after the Romans and Muslim rule was established in the city. This continued until 1238 when King Jaime I expelled the Moors from the city. The Moors may have been banished from the city, but they left a mark that remains to this day in the artistic influences, recipes and water system to be found in the city. The Golden Era of Valencia is said to be during the 14th and 15th centuries in Valencia. This was a time when the economy flourished due to agriculture and maritime trade. This meant that lots of emblematic buildings were constructed during this period. The buildings include the  Valencia Cathedral , the Torres de Serrano, the Torres de Quart and the Silk Exchange (called La Lonja). During this period there was also a surge in the arts - meaning that it has been coined the Renaissance period. During this ti
